The first public meetings for NEC FUTURE were Scoping Meetings held in August 2012 in nine locations from Boston to Washington, D.C. Comments received at these meetings and since by email, mail and through this website will help to define the scope of study for the Tier 1 EIS, being conducted in accordance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Procedures for Considering Environmental Impacts.
The NEC FUTURE team sincerely appreciates the public's participation at each of these meetings, which were held in Boston, MA; Providence, RI; New Haven, CT; New York, NY; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Baltimore, MD; Wilmington, DE; and Washington, DC. If you were unable to attend a meeting, or would like to view the meeting materials again, they are now available online at the links below. You are also welcome to submit a comment on the scope of study for NEC FUTURE until October 19, 2012 (now extended from the original date of September 14).
There is still time to participate in the scoping process for the NEC FUTURE Tier 1 EIS. You are invited to view all of the materials that were presented at the August Scoping Meetings and submit a comment using the links below.
The Scoping Meeting Presentation provides an overview of the study and process to be followed. Narrated by Rebecca Reyes-Alicea of the FRA, the presentation lasts approximately 7 minutes and outlines some of the issues the corridor faces. The Scoping Meeting Display Boards provide additional information on the study purpose and need, the environmental process being followed, the alternatives development process, and the study schedule.
